54 months old

Officially four and a half years old!  Remember when the fraction mattered?  I remember being very particular about being called "seven and three-fourths years old" the minute I hit seven years and nine months old.  But sadly for me, Britton turning four and a half means she's a mere six months away from turning five years old.  And I really can't handle my babies growing up!

And Britton is doing some growing.  She's maturing so fast.  She's turning into a "little kid" - interacts well with her friends, listens well to adults, follows directions, and has generally lost that spazzy-ness of younger kids.  Memaw gave Britton a "Judy Moody" book for Christmas, and we got to reading it.  It's a "real book" - not a picture book, with actual chapters.  We've also been reading the original "Peter Pan" and her "Emily" book that came with her American Girl doll.  Reading these longer chapter books has really excited Britton, and she remembers the story from the previous nights.

After I tuck Britton into bed, she's been turning her light back on to "read" books.  She even reads them out loud (from her memory of them, since she can't actually read yet).  I've caught her doing this on the video monitor, so after one night of her staying up for almost an hour "reading," the next night I told her she can't stay up too late - maybe one or two books, max.  And you know what?  That girl will look over a couple of books, and roll over and turn off her lamp and go to sleep!  No yelling, screaming, fighting, getting up, no drama at all.  I'm learning to let her make some of her own decisions, do things her way, and it's working!

We had a great playdate with her friend Lila from school.  Both girls spread glitter all over the house (from their princess dresses) that I'm still trying to get it up weeks later!  Britton has still been doing Gymagic Bus at school, and next Saturday is her first ballet/tap/tumbling class.  Both Britton and I are in desperate need to get outdoors and be goofy and swing on the swing set and go on long walks and just enjoy the sunshine, if it ever decides to come back to Pittsburgh!  Being snowed in every weekend, or made homebound by the ridiculously cold temperatures, has lost any appeal it once had.  Britton has said repeatedly that she's looking forward to spring, and I can't blame her one bit!

Likes:  Barrett (these two are just smitten with each other), making bread with Memaw, traveling (she did great on her OKC trip!), dancing, swimming, apples and bananas

Dislikes:  being rushed on Monday mornings, getting up when it's dark outside
