it's art show time!

Our local library held an art show, and accepted pieces from both children and adults.  All art was displayed in the library, and we were invited to the opening reception.  Britton quickly found her two pieces (below, on the left - the rainbow sunset in the trees and the feet underwater).  The art show did judge elementary school level and high school level, and while Britton did not place, she was still excited to be a part of the show!

We got our sparkly punch, cheese and crackers, and veggies with ranch dressing, and sat and watched the people mingle and look at the adult artwork.  I was blown away by a few pieces, though my favorite was a tad out of my price range (almost all of the art was available for sale). We left empty-handed, but so proud of Britton and her art!

barrett: 59 months old

Barrett is one month away from turning five, which means I really need to get his birthday party planned!  I have ordered invitations, but they still need to be printed and mailed, and I admit that I've been a little distracted - Jess, her kids, and Jen came to visit us this week!  Everyone left today, so tomorrow I will definitely get some of my "to do" list done.

Barrett found a new best friend today - my friend Jen.  They spent the morning playing Shopkins together (Barrett has commandeered Britton's Shopkins and loves them and learns their names), which is a real treat for him since the hubs and I are a little tired of having spent years playing with Shopkins.  Also, we all went to Britton's first soccer game today, and it was ridiculously cold and windy for April, and Barrett was chilled to the bone.  Jen snuggled with Barrett and distracted him from being cold, and he was making goo-goo eyes at her in the car.

Likes:  Jen, queso, "The Big Orange Splot" book, Lucky Charms Frosted Flakes combo cereal

Dislikes:  soccer games in the cold weather

104 months old

We had a fun Easter weekend, and now we're set for a fun week - Jessica, Caroline, Garrett, and Jen are coming to visit us!  Not only that, Britton also starts soccer this week!  Unfortunately, soccer is on the same day as piano lessons, so Wednesdays will be super-busy now.  And Saturdays will be double-booked too, with gymnastics and soccer games!

Britton is excited for tomorrow afternoon - her book club at school is having a party tomorrow to celebrate finishing "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" - the second book club she's participated in this year.  Britton loves reading - it's probably her favorite activity after swimming - and it's great that her school puts on a book club, with meetings weekly to discuss the chapters.

Likes:  Jessica and the family and Jen visiting this week

Dislikes:  trying to find soccer cleats that fit her size 5 (womens) feet
