twenty-two months old
Britton has really hit her stride this month! Earlier this week we battled some nightwaking issues, though they seem related to vocabulary, as every morning Britton wakes with more words under her belt. We've decided to let her cry it out so she can get back into her routine. Sunday night, at 12:30 am, her nightwaking began and in our foggy states the hub and I thought it a good idea to bring Britton to bed with us. She wanted to play with Sadie or watch our neighbor's incessant motion light go on and off and on and off, but sleep was not on the agenda. Chaos and no sleep ensued, and we're back to putting her to bed and leaving her there. Tonight she went to bed without a peep. As mom used to say, "Nothing good happens after midnight."
You see that book in her hand? It's "Sam and Violet's Christmas Story." She loves my old copy of "Sam and Violet are Twins" so much that I ordered her the only two other Sam and Violet books I could find. "Sam and Violet's Birthday" is in the mail on the way to our house.
Britton has really taken to her books. Reading is a favorite activity of hers, and she loves jumping up, grabbing a book, sitting on my lap and reading, then grabbing a new book. The hub and I bought her some educational toys to tap into fun skill learning. She tried out the stringing beads but needs a little help getting the string all the way through the block. She likes the puzzles, which include one with numbers, one with shapes, and one with animals. She can complete them all without our help! The hub bought her some tactile books, which are so much fun for her. And her new favorite are her alphabet flashcards. The alphabet is her first love and not a day goes by that she doesn't want us to join her in a round. In fact, on Sunday night (actually, 3:00 am) she laid in her crib refusing to sleep, but singing the alphabet song to herself.
Britton swam in a pool for the first time last Sunday! She's been in pools before when we went to Disney World, but this was her first time really swimming around. At first she was apprehensive, but she quickly warmed up to it and enjoyed herself. She watched a little girl swimming and jumping in and was very frustrated she couldn't do the same. Doesn't matter what age - all kids want to be bigger than they are.
Britton's eating is still great, and she has added spinach to her list of favorite veggies. Her good meal is lunch, wherein she will eat tons, but she's usually not so impressed with dinner. She'll eat dinner, but only in-between bouts of playing with us. She is wearing 3T clothes now and size 6 shoes. She got her first scraped up knee at the park last weekend and now is fascinated with the scab. Every night she wants her medicine on the boo boo, then have it covered with her Elmo band-aids.
Likes: singing and dancing, the alphabet, all things about/showing/mentioning puppies, spinach, watermelon, swimming, going on walks, drawing with chalk, drawing in her books with crayons (she's a sneaky one and I have to remind her we don't color our books), her tub crayons, being included in decision-making
Dislikes: being frustrated with lack of ability to communicate, beans, Sadie trying to get her food, slowing down, being rushed, when Winnie has to leave and get in the washing machine
