My first-born is eight years old today! We've been at Disney World (with a one-day birthday present detour to Harry Potter's magical wizarding world) since Saturday, and I'll have to catch you up on that tomorrow. So, while Britton did technically spend her 8th birthday in airports, she had 5 days of celebration prior!
Britton starts third grade in just 2 weeks, making her one of the youngest kids in her class. But she's ready with the material - she earned all As last year! Britton is still taking gymnastics, and can now do a handstand against the wall without assistance. She's progressed so much this year. Britton is also taking piano lessons, and while she hems and haws about doing so, I view music lessons as a requirement. Britton begrudgingly admits that she does enjoy playing the piano!
Britton has moved from easy-read type chapter books into full-on chapter books now. We read every night (of course, recently we've been devouring the Harry Potter series), because I truly believe it teaches children to love reading. She looks forward to it, and honestly, since we've moved onto more interesting books, so do I!
Britton has also learned a new independence, biking to friends' houses and playing at the park without us having to supervise. She's learning to navigate these friendships, and it's so sweet to watch. We're gearing up for Britton's birthday pool party on Saturday, which is extra-exciting for her because she didn't have a party last year - we were new to Texas and she hadn't started school yet.
Likes: Hermione Granger, Pusheen the Cat, riding her bike, swimming, Disney World with Memaw and PawPaw
Dislikes: being sweaty hot, brushing her hair consistently
