The list of things Britton has lost out on because of Covid-19 has grown exponentially, including her Mary Poppins, Jr. production, swim team, sleepaway camp, 5th grade graduation, and more. But we've found that instead of dwelling on what we've lost, we've tried to recognize the positives going on right now. Britton and Barrett got to go camping with Memaw and PawPaw last weekend - where camp sites are spread out and social distancing is a given. Both kids needed out of this house, where they've been for over two months now, to get to explore and roam and roast marshmallows. Another positive - Britton has started one-on-one volleyball lessons! She and her coach don't need to be closer than six feet, they are outside, and it allows Britton to get some exercise without the same old bike ride or walk around the neighborhood.
School is out! Her school had a car parade, and all the teachers stood along the school and cheered - it was amazing! But without school work, there's not much to take up their days, especially since the hubs and I still work all day. I think we've bought more books than anything else since the pandemic began, because our libraries are closed, and Britton needs books like she needs water. She recently started the new Hunger Games "The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes" and the new School of Good and Evil #6. We're still reading together every night before bed, and we discovered the "twisted tales" from Disney - where they take the fairy tale you know and love, and change it up. We've read "Part of Your World" (what if Ursula won?), "Conceal, Don't Feel" (what if Anna and Elsa didn't know each other existed?), "So This is Love" (what if Cinderella never tried on the glass slipper?), and currently "Mirror Mirror" (what if the Evil Queen poisoned the prince instead of Snow White?).
Likes: "Confectionately Yours" book series, her new larger sketch book, playing dress up with make up and wigs
Dislikes: not being able to see her friends every day, wearing her glasses (she wants contacts)
